Primary: 1-2

As students move into the primary grades, there is heavy emphasis on early reading and phonemic mastery.  In the Primary classroom students undertake daily writing logs, word family recognition, and use manipulatives to master number families.
Students are immersed in an environment that motivates them to continue to ask questions, take chances, and discover interests as they continually build their knowledge.  They are introduced to an assortment of literary genres, learn the characteristics of each, and learn to extract information, both explicit and implied.
